Attaining results with the most hard-to-reach students is what summer school is all about. Classroom, Inc.’s summer program consistently rises to the challenge of improving students’ test scores by offering a unique learning experience enhanced by targeted instruction.

Year after year, students using Classroom, Inc. meet promotion standards as they improve on state reading and math tests, advancing up to two instructional levels after using our program for as few as 20 days.

  • Nearly twice as many struggling New York City 7th graders as students citywide improved from the lowest reading level (Level 1) to a higher level in summer 2005.

  • In just 20 days of instruction during the summers of 2005–2007, Classroom, Inc. saw gains among struggling readers using our program in New York City as strong as:

    54% of 6th graders
    25% of 7th graders
    40% of 8th graders

moving from the lowest instructional level (Level 1) to Level 2 or higher on the state English Language Arts exam.

  • Students using Classroom, Inc. spend 20%–30% of their time reading, as compared to 2–3% in traditional classrooms. Students also spend 30–40% of their time writing, compared to 15–20% in traditional classrooms.

“Classroom, Inc. is great because we learn things in different ways and we have more fun doing this work than during school year.”

“ I learned how to solve problems better. I learned that reading is very important and that you don’t have to play sports to be in the sports industry.”
