What information do we collect?

Personally Identifiable Information:

When an educator creates an account for one of our products or services or a donor makes an online donation to our organization, they may provide to Read to Lead, Inc. what is generally called “personally identifiable information” such as full name, email address, postal mailing address, and telephone number.

We may collect and use personally identifiable information from our educators and online donors: (1) to follow up on inquiries or orders for our products or services; (2) in connection with subscription registrations, surveys, and requests for suggestions; and (3) to accept online donations to our organization.

Read to Lead’s products and online services do not require personally identifying information from any person under the age of 18. If we learn that any personally identifiable information about any Minor has been collected without parental consent we will take reasonable steps to delete any such information.

IP Address and Other Information Collected Automatically:

We automatically receive and record information from your web browser when you interact with our website and online services, including your IP address and cookie information.

Use of IP Addresses:

An IP address is a number assigned to your computer by a web server when you’re using a website or online service. We do not use IP addresses to identify individual users, we only use the information from IP addresses in the aggregate to determine user trends over time, such as how many users entered a specific area of our site.

Information Collected Using Cookies:

We may make use of a standard feature found in browser software called a “cookie”. Cookies are small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters sent to your browser. This anonymous user information allows us to tell how and when you visit the website and otherwise use the services so that we may continually improve our visitors’ and users’ online experiences. We may use this data in aggregate form as a statistical measure but not in a manner that would identify you personally.

How, and with whom, is my information shared?

We don’t rent or sell our users’ personal information to anyone, period.

Additionally, Read to Lead’s employees, agents, and contractors must have a legitimate business reason to obtain access to any personally identifiable information you may provide.

Read to Lead may disclose automatically collected and other aggregate non-personally identifiable information to third parties, such as academic institutions or grant-making foundations, to assist these parties in understanding the usage and assessment of certain programs and services.

Our commitment to data security

Read to Lead uses and follows generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during the transmission and while maintaining this information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot and do not guarantee the information’s absolute security.

We may collect online and use personally identifiable information from our adult visitors: (1) to follow up on inquiries on or orders for our products or services; (2) in connection with surveys, forums, subscription registrations, content submissions, classroom activities, our requests for suggestions and visitors’ requests for information; and (3) to accept online donations to our organization.

We will give out personal information as required by law and to comply with a court order or subpoena or to assist in criminal investigations. We may also give out personal information when we deem it advisable in order to protect the safety and security of our site(s) and visitors to our site(s).

Point-of-sale and online donor security

When an educator or online donor enters sensitive information on our registration or order forms, that information is encrypted using techniques common in e-commerce, such as secure socket layer technology (SSL).

Donor Privacy Policy

Read to Lead is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of its donors. Read to Lead ensures that all personally and anonymously identifiable information that it receives via the Internet is secure against unauthorized access and uses secure server software over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) line to protect your credit card information. We do not share, trade, or sell personally identifiable information with third parties or other entities. This policy applies to all information collected in any manner, including contributions and information collected online and offline.

Visitors may find links from www.readtolead.org to independently owned, controlled, and/or managed websites whose content we have found of possible interest to our visitors. Please note that we do not monitor or control all the content that appears on these sites and such content may be constantly changing.

Please note that we may revise our above policy without notice to users. We will post all such material changes to this Privacy Policy.
