TIME Magazine Reports on the Upside of Summer School

The cover story of Time magazine's August 2, 2010 issue zeroes in on the "summer slide," in which students—particularly those from low-income families—lose months of reading and math skills over the summer. The article features the work of the National Summer Learning Association, an education reform organization that has been joining forces with Classroom, Inc. and many other nonprofits and school districts to ensure that every child has the opportunity to be engaged in learning over the summer.

We've been working with districts for years to help students prevent summer slide. This summer, for example, we're working in almost 200 classes in Chicago, as well as schools in New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, DC. Go to
