NYC Schools to Test Our New Learning Game

Last spring we were chosen to receive a Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC) grant that has given us a chance to create a terrific web-delivered game, Reading in the Real World: The Sports Network 2. While this game addresses Common Core State Standards in reading informational text (Gr. 8), it will also take advantage of a whole array of game features young people have come to love—avatars to represent themselves, animation, a modern environment, contemporary tech tools, rewards, and much more.

We are happy to report that six schools in New York City are scheduled to begin testing TSN-2 in February or March 2012:  I.S. 96, I.S. 364, M.S. 14, M.S. 259, Bronx Career and College Preparatory High School, and Channel View High School. Classroom, Inc., along with principals and teachers, is excited about the prospect of engaging struggling students in an online learning game that enlivens and contextualizes the Common Core State Standards.
